This week in Lynchburg (Sep 2-8)

130 or so events this week, and the long weekend carries most of it. First Friday fills downtown on Friday evening with four gallery openings, a cyanotype open house at Vector Space and a free outdoor benefit concert at the University of Lynchburg. Saturday is the fullest day: a free festival at Poplar Forest, Wolfbane's 20th-season gala, CRABSMACK at the Academy and an all-white R&B night at the Warehouse Theatre, plus the Labor Day wine and music festival out in Amherst. Monday thins out because the library and city offices close for the holiday, though the splash fountains and sprayground get their last day of the season. Celtic Thunder closes the week at the Academy on Tuesday.
